Wimme
Wimme Saari is one of the best known Sami yoikers from Finland. Wimme Saari combines traditional Sami singing with his own improvisations, usually to a techno-ambient accompaniment by members of Finnish electronic group RinneRadio.

Rinneradio
Operating on the boundaries of jazz and electronic music, the output of RinneRadio has been described as "some jazz, plenty of techno and ambient influences, a few poppy melodies, and hints of world music.

Havuhavina
This energetic trio performs Carelian poetry songs, Finnish and Swedish folk songs and medieval ballads. A cappella-songs are accompanied by ancient Finnish instruments, like kantele, kampiliira and jousipsalttari.

Torbjörn Engman
Own songs based on rock, blues and folkmusic where self-irony is central.

Koop Arponen
Finland's Idols-winner 2008 released his debutalbum New Town in February and sold gold. Multicultural Koop is a combination of British joke teller and sensitive sing & song writer, which makes him unique in Finnish music world. 

Cellophane Flowers
Cellophane Flowers play less known Beatles-songs with love and great passion. Charachteristic for the band is stemming and exceptional instrumental selections.

Frank Zappa Memorial Pancake Breakfast.
Music of Frank Zappa Memorial Pancake Breakfast was founded by drummer Joni Leino. In 2002 Joni was asked by a bar keeper in Nurmijärvi to assemble a project that would play something different from the mainstream, so he had the idea of putting together a big Frank Zappa tribute band with marimba and horns. A nine member band started rehearsing and soon they had two sets of Zappa tunes.

Kuukumina
Kuukumina is a 7-piece orchestra founded in Helsinki, Finland in 1999. After experimenting with a variety of musical styles from around the world Kuukumina found its home in Afro-Cuban music. Today the repertoire consists of Cuban songs in the styles of son, cha cha cha, bolero, changüi and rumba as well as original music in the same tradition

Pelle Miljoona ja Unabomber
No introduction needed. Maestro now  with Unabomber at Faces!

Underwater sleeping society
The Helsinki-based indie rock sextet Underwater Sleeping Society is definitely one of the most interesting bands of the moment and a rare exception in the line of “Post- Radiohead” bands today. The band delivers a perfect mix of orchestral anthems spiced with 2000´s psychedelia.

Pintandwefall
Pintandwefall is female garage rock band, founded by four young women in Vantaa in 2006.  The first album Wow! What was that, baby? was released in October 2007. Spice Girls -influenced artist names and stage show with zorro-masks are characteristic to the style of the band.

Vinyl Jam (RUS/FIN)
Vinyl Jam is a band from Helsinki that plays 70’s club music. The music is very varying, from esoteric soul to hard groove and straight funk. They make traditional analogue music, covering everything from vintage electric instruments to vinyl records.

Qruu and MC Brother (IRI/FIN)
Qruu and MC Brother are two friends with very different backgrounds and styles, but with an common interest in serious hip-hop music. MC Bro is from Iran, and raps in English, Turkish, Kurdi and Swedish, while Finnish-Swedish Gruu is more focused on lyrics the poetry part of rap music.

Shava and "King" Guarcharan Mall (IND)
The "Bhangra-King" Guarcharan Mall and Shava perform together. In bhangra, Indian ancient, earthly rythms are combined with latest pop and underground trends. Shava plays Finnish bhangra, blending Bollywood dance beats with Finnish language and attitude.

Capital Beat
Finnish 8-piece machine of pulsating riddims combining elements of authentic ska, reggae and soul that evokes memories of old Jamaican music with a new and fresh twist.

Trio Marilan
The group blends Kurd melodies, Finnish folk music and Brazilian candoblé-music. The songs are accompanied by tanbour, tar, contrabass, jouhikko, pandero and cavaquinho.

Pertti Kurkikan nimipäivä
Punkrock-band from Helsinki. The songs are about society from the aspect of disabled.

Transkaakko
Turku-based band blends balcanese rhythms and slavic melodies with electric rock and psychedelic rock music. Transkaakko was founded in 1995. The new album will be released at Faces!

Kaikukasti
The musical influences of Kaikukasti comes from soul, funk, rock, motown and reggae. There is always lively and colourful ambiance in the band's gigs, though the melancholic side can be found  in their music as well.

Faso Kan (BF/FIN)
Faso Kan is a grup founded in 2006 by musicians from Burkina Faso and Finland. The members of the group teach also african music and dance all around Finland. The leader of the group is master of balafon, griot Issa Dembele.

Dobranotch (RUS)
Dobranotch, an odd local folk band that blends Balkan folk, Klezmer music and Arab rhythms, is a far cry from the Irish-folk trio that it was when started out in the late 1990s. On its third album, "Gagarin Chochek", released on ORANGE WORLD Records, the band documents its new style and lineup.

Banda Madrugada
Helsinki-based Banda Madrugada plays forró, traditional music from North-East iof Brazil.   is a Finnish forró group founded in 2006. The dance orchestra previously known as Miau and the Boys plays forró music from North-East of Brazil. The traditional pair dance music with a cheerful and fresh touch puts hips swinging and make floors bounce!

Black River Bluesman
Black River Bluesman plays rough, hypnotic and electric "roots blues". Band is aiming to the true origins and core of blues, by creating more and more original sound. 

Asfaltal da Kosmosas
The members of the group come from Joensuu and St Petersburg. Band blends folk music and techno sounds in very unique way.  Band itself describes their music as ethnic triphop and pseudo-arabic funk!

Paprica korps (PL)
Paprika Korps is an alternative heavy reggae band from Poland and among the hardest touring polish bands, domestic as well as abroad. Their touringlist over the last years contains gigs in over 25 countries.This heavy touring schedule has earned the band the nickname "The Heavy Reggae Travellers". The music has been described as an interesting combo of reggae, dub and punk. One journalist wrote: "...heavy roots rockers style, reggae vibe without compromise, warrior directions, not sunshine..."

Joose Keskitalo+Kolmas Maailmanpalo
Joose Frans Esko Keskitalo is Finnish singer-songwriter. Carachteristic to his style is eccentric stage charisma, rough and gritty lyrics, jaring guitar and harmonica.

Thoby Loth
Thoby Loth is a band that plays high energy progressive rock instrumentals. Tobias is the man behind the music and the concept of Thoby Loth. He formed the band in 2007 with Peter and Roger, two of his childhood friends. Daniel became an obvious choice, in search of a drummer, thanks to his creativity and energy.

Puppa J & Punky Reggae band
Puppa J. is one of the pioneers in Finnish reggae. He started his career in the end of 1990s in Jyväskylä, as a vocalist in a reggaeband Laulurastas. Later, he worked with his group Tasottavat. Puppa J., celebrating his 10.anniversary as and artist,  has just released his soloalbum "Oi aikoja!".

C-star
C-star is Finland's newcomer of black rhythm music. This winner of Finnish championship in rap music 2007 has broadened his music in reggae, -dancehall, -grime, and drum'n'bass styles as well.

Lost Paragraph
Lost Paragraph plays groovy and funky dance music with experimental and jazzy vibes. Happy and groovy!

Dánjal (DEN)
Dánjal combines Tom Waits, Balkan melodies, klezmer, tangoa and music of Fär island. Debut album ”The Palace” was released few months ago. Bänd has been touring around Europe.

Fristad (SE)
7-piece Swedish band plays jazzy pop-and rockmusic.

Too dumb to die (EU)
This performing grop of Europeans travelling by bicycle around the world. They combine skiffle-jazz-klezmer -music, theatre and acrobacy. The group is the winner of Finnish troubadour championship 2007 of Faces. Now they come to redeem the victory, which means performing at the festival! 

Kuokkavieraat
The Helsinki-based group of young ladies sings Finnish-Ugric folk music with a great variety.  In addition to traditional songs, Kuokkavieraat performs modern folk music with momentary improvisation.

Ines
Ines is 18-years-old singer-songwriter with a distinctive voice. She accompanies her melancholic songs with guitar.

Drom
Drom, performing new gipsy music, was formed in 2002. Their music has influences on India, Balkan and Finnish folk music. The group is known for its orginality and overwhelming, young energy.

Rol Jonell and his Hawaiian Novelty Orchestra
The first Nordic Hawaian band brings alive the sweet melodies of old Hawaian guitars. The group plays vintage Hawaian music, know also as "swinging Alhaism"

Grupo Kaney (VEN-CUB-COL-FIN)
This band, playing hot Latin rhythms, respresent four different nationalities and cultures; the members are from Venezuela, Cuba, Columbia and Finland. Group came in  second in this year's Ourvision -contest.

Abdu (MRC-SEN-SRB)

Abdu  blends Northern African rai music with jazzia, flamenco, reggae and rock. The band was formed six years ago, and the members are from Marocco, Senegal and the former Yugoslavia.

Kari Pyhönen Band
Kari Pyrhönen is singer-songwriter, known also as a tv-reporter. Lyrics has a great importance in his folk-rock music. The new album "Taivaanraapija" was released in March.

Urban dance music from all over the world: Kwaito, Baile Funk, Bhangra, African Hip Hop, Kuduro, Reggaeton, Bongo flava, Soca, Kapuka, Dancehall, Rai...  Dj Mad Ice and selector Miikka "Mwamba" Kari. 

Aurora Borealis (RUS)
Excellent Siberian group! Tshuktshs, korjaks, jakuts, evenkis, nivhis, etc. Aurora Borealis brings Siberian winds to Faces.
